Flower Show report in the Kirkintilloch Herald written by our Press Officer Margaret Gibb:
At the beginning of September Kirkintilloch Horticultural Society held our annual flower show in St Mary’s Church hall. As last year, this successful show was held in association with Glasgow and District Fuchsia Society and had a good number of exhibits with certificates awarded to winners of each class. The popular tearoom and tombola added to the enjoyment of those attending.
Our next meeting will take place in Enterprise House on Thursday, October 16, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm when our speaker will be Dr Stan da Prato. The title of his talk is ‘ Crimes behind the compost heap: the shocking truth about life and death in your garden.’
Stan, a keen naturalist and gardener, learnt his horticultural skills from his father, a professional gardener, before taking up a career in education. He has vast experience of gardening, wildlife and travel, also of serving with many organisations connected to his interests.
New members will always be made welcome at meetings.
